Cree Introduces a Better LED Bulb

Cree is arguably leading the LED lighting revolution with its superseding of traditional, inefficient lighting technologies with energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly LED lighting.

The company is a market-leading innovator of LED lighting, lighting-class LEDs, and semiconductor products for power and radio frequency (RF) applications. In addition to its suite of LED lighting products, power-switching devices and RF devices, Cree also drives improvements in such applications as backlighting, electronic signs and signals, general illumination, power suppliers and solar inverters.

Recognizing the potential of LED lighting, Cree has expanded its product lines and its Cree Lighting products are available to builders and homeowners, as well as to direct customers including government agencies and national restaurant chains.

Despite opportunities to improve light quality, longevity and energy efficiency, some manufacturers seek only to cash in on the technology’s popularity by driving LED bulbs to CFL-like standards. Cree, however, has introduced a new LED bulb with better performance, a longer life and more energy savings.

Betty Noonan, Cree’s chief marketing officer, said: “As the LED leader, Cree is dedicated to designing the best LED lighting products that deliver better light experiences while exceeding customer expectations. We believe that better light changes everything, and the newest Cree LED Bulb reflects our commitment to never compromise on performance.”

The latest Cree LED bulb delivers true LED performance in light output, color quality and dimming. Its lifetime is over 27 years (30,000 hours), lasting up to six times longer than some LED bulbs.

With Cree’s 4Flow Filament Design, it appears and illuminates like a traditional incandescent. The new bulb, however, also provides a higher color rendering index of 83 in order to better display colors. It features Energy Star compliant omnidirectional distribution for all-around light, and is also fully dimmable, working with most standard dimmers and with suitability for enclosed fixtures.

The new design delivers 460 lumens for the 40W replacement and 815 lumens for the 60W replacement in soft white (2700K) and daylight (5000K) color temperatures.

Since Cree brought the blue LED to market in 1989, Cree’s products have exceeded industry standards for brightness and efficiency, usable in everything from desk lamps, ceiling fixtures and street lights. Its high-brightness LEDs are also driving new performance levels for decorative lighting and outdoor video displays.

The new bulb is no exception, achieving the trusted Energy Star certification, meeting all the high performance requirements, and backed by the firm with a 100-percent satisfaction guarantee.
